This is aimed at eliminating information security compromise and ensures the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the information systems, the technologies and infrastructures used as well as the information contained in the organizations information systems. Security standards provide not only the general outlines on enhancing security but also specific techniques for implementing information system security. Security standards prescribe, at a low level, the ways through which these organizations can enforce their security policies and procedures. Some of the most recognized s ecurity standards include ISO17799, ISO27002, TCSEC, ITSEC, ITIL, COBIT, Rainbow Series, Common Criteria, BS 25999-2, IETF, GMITS and GASSP among other standards. The ISO 17799 consists of ten modules each of which is concerned with specific aspects of security. These modules are security policy, security organization, asset classification and control, personnel security, physical and environmental security, communication and operations management, access control, system development and maintenance, business continuity planning and compliance (Idaho National Laboratory, 2005). The ISO IEC 27002 is considered an improvement of the ISO 17799 and is composed of ten components which are covered from section two to fifteen. These include the management of security policy, corporate security, organizational asset, human resource security, physical and environmental security, communications and operations, information access control, information system security, information security incide nts, business continuity and compliance. The ITIL jigsaw consists of five major components the central of them being managing the system applications. This is supported by the delivering IT services, supporting these IT services, managing the IT infrastructure and underlining these with the business perspective. The main focus here in on delivering and supporting the IT services. (Hoekstra, Conradie, n.d.) The CobiT security standard is goal oriented which is underpinned in the key performance and success indicators. This is formulated in four main areas namely, planning and organization, acquisition and implementation delivery and support and monitoring the IT resources and information within the business organization (Hoekstra, Conradie, n.d.). The Standard of Good Practice for Information Security is a development by the Information Security Forum. It is business oriented with a bias in information security risks identification and management. It is aimed at complying with the ISO 27001 through defining, implementing, evaluating and enhancing security techniques suited for the organization (Information Security Forum, 2011). The BS 25999-2 is a British national standard for business continuity which is gaining popularity in other countries as well. This standard includes the four management phases namely, planning, implementing, reviewing and monitoring and improving. The focus of this standard is continuous upgrading and improving of the information systems and related infrastructure to ensure its usability. This is enshrined in human resource management, analysis of business impact and risk assessment, business continuity plan, plan and system maintenance and improvement as well as documentation of the business continuity strategy. The ISO 17799 and ISO IEC 27002 are similar in their areas of emphasis. They both focus of categorizing the various sources of security risks and threats as well as the management of the same. They both have ten components wh ich are related including human resource, physical and environmental, access control and communications and operations among other categorizations. They are however different in the sense that while the ISO 17799 stresses on the identification of security issues and challenges, the ISO IEC 27002 stresses on the management and control of the identified threats. The ITIL and CobiT security standards are similar in their emphasis on the delivery and support of IT services in the organization. In addition, these two security standards also stress on the attainment of the organizational goal. The two standards are however differing in the while CobiT recognizes that people factor in information systems; ITIL on the other hand seems to focus on the Information Technology and infrastructure making up the information systems. The Standard of Good Practice for Information Security and the BS 25999-2 are similar in that they are both focused on the continuity of the business. They also emphas ize on the recognition of the people culture by taking the management approach to security as well as the need for continuous assessment and upgrading. The focus on business continuity and people factor makes these two security standards different from other standards such as ITIL which focuses on technology and infrastructure. Today that curiosity has become a constant companion to many children. Television has all but replaced written material. Unfortunately, violent television programs are endangering our society. Violent images on television, as well as in the movies, have inspired people to set spouses on fire in their beds, lie down in the middle of highways, extort money by placing bombs in airplanes, rape, steal, murder, and commit numerous other shootings and assaults. Over 1,000 case studies have proven that media violence can have negative affects on children as well. It increases aggressiveness and anti-social behavior, makes them less sensitive to violence and to victims of violence, and it increases their appetite for more violence in entertainment and in real life. Media violence is especially damaging to young children, age 8 and under1, because they cannot tell the difference between real life and fantasy. Violent images on television and in movies may seem real to these children and sometimes viewing these images can even traumatize them. Despite the negative effects media violence has been known to generate, no drastic changes have been made to deal with this problem that seems to be getting worse. We, as a whole, have glorified this violence so much that movies such as Natural Born Killers and television shows such as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are viewed as normal, everyday entertainment. Its even rare now to find a childrens cartoon that does not depict some type of violence or comedic aggression. What we do not realize though, is that it is the children that are ending up with problems. Unlike most rational, educated adults, many children are gradually beginning to accept violence as a way to solve problems and are imitating what they observe on television. These children do not understand that the violence is shown strictly because the public wants to see it. They cannot grasp the meaning of ratings and entertainment as well as adults can. All they know is, if the TV portrays violence as cool, then it must be cool! The problem isnt the violence in the media though; it is the medias failure to show the consequences of violence. This is especially true of cartoons, toy commercials, and music videos. Children often do not realize that it hurts to hit someone else because they see it all the time on TV. Everyday a cartoon character is beat up, injured, or killed, only to return in the very next episode, good as new. As a result, children learn that there are few, if any repercussions for committing violent acts. Unfortunately, as long as there is an extremely high public demand for violent shows and movies, the media is going to continue on the same path. And because it looks as though the violence craze is going to continue for some time, we need to be dependent on parents to reduce the effect that media violence has on children, which can be done in so many different ways. First, parents should limit the amount of television children watch per day from the average 3 to 4 hours, which is double the amount of recommended hours, to 1 to 2 hours. Children are exposed to far too much violence every day on TV, mainly because parents see the TV as a convenient babysitter. By limiting the amount of time spent in front of the tube, parents will compel their children to do something more productive like reading a book or playing outside. In limiting TV time, parents also need to monitor what programs their children are watching and restrict the viewing of violent programs. It was also used as a public green that included several official functions. For instance, parades, hangings and drills are some of the official functions that were carried out in Boston (Friends 8). As the official functions became so common in Boston, the government decided to impose a ban on livestock grazing in Boston Common. This prohibition came to effect in 1830. Boston Common equally holds a military history. According to Friends, before the kick off of the American Revolutionary War, the park was used as a camping site by British troops (17). The sixteen most storied landmarks are connected by the Freedom Trail which starts at Boston. Robert Gould Shaw Memorial that features Massachusetts 54th Regiment is also contained in the Freedom Trail. Boston equally anchors the Emerald Necklace. The Necklace entails the one thousand acres of parkland that lies between Franklin Park and Charles River (Friends 19). Boston Common also entails memories of various events. For instance, the Boston Massacre Monument, the Partisans, a tribute to the world freedom fighters and a civil war memorial can all be viewed in Boston. Lastly, the Frog Pond in Boston Common functions as a public ice-skating and a wading pool in winter and summer respectively (Friends 27). The Park served as a site for public assembly and free speeches. Charles Lindbergh used Boston Common as a stage for promoting commercial aviation. Boston Arts Festival The Boston Arts Festival entails the best Boston Arts Scene. It includes both visual and performance. The Festival was started in 2003 as a single afternoon event. Morning Events and Observations in Boston Common In Boston Common there are several events that one would observe. The events begin taking place as early as 12 a.m. For instance, very early in the morning, one would only observe an empty park without anybody in it only the beautiful trees, grass cover and animals such as squirrel (Morris 4). The trees have both yellow and green leaves scattered all over the park. Some of the trees shade of their leaves more often making the park looks untidy. These leaves to some extent are nuisance to individuals visiting the park (Morris 4). There is a smell of cleanliness very early in the morning. This smell owes to the fact that no one uses the park at night only for the ones crossing over (Morris 4). In the morning, there is sound of quietness accompanied by some little breeze blowing the leaves. Boston Common is very nice during these morning hours. The sweet smell of the nature inclusive of the one coming from grass, trees and their leaves bring a nice scent to people in the park. But the side opposite to Boylston Street is full of bad odor. The irritating smell is caused by the wastes that people dump in this side of the park (Morris 4). On would also observe an ice skating rink that is well established to be used everyone during winter seasons. The ice skating is used by all age groups that wish to enjoy their time. The park is surrounded by numerous tall buildings that act as wind breakers to strong wind. This has led to Boston Common having a very cool wind during morning hours (Morris 5). As morning grows stronger and a little warmth setting in, people begin walking into the park with most of them in pairs. There is the taste of Hotdogs that are being sold in the nearby streets probably with all the ketchup as well as mustard in them. Besides, there is the taste of caramel being sold. Morris confirmed that as the day continues growing, the disguising smell of cigarette begins setting into the park (5). Events in the Park after mid-day One would observe groups of families sitting together and enjoying some family time together with their children. The children playing with their kites as their parents commit to their own conversations and also catching up on stuff. Some of the families play with their animals around the park. The animals especially dogs scare the squirrels away making them climb onto trees while searching for their safety (Morris 6). There is the rattling sound produced by the leaves as people step on them. The sound sometimes become so much that it ends up irritating people that are holding conversations probably about love , market or anything in general. The people also may look perturbed by the dogs which are actually barking out of their own enjoyment. In Morris view, the sound of people passing close to Boston Common can also be heard by those inside the park (6). As heat begins to increase, the children start playing freely with each other. They play in the sand. According to the children, there is a nice feeling they get from the sand. Morris asserted that some of the people in the park lay down under the trees with intention to have a feeling of the grass and leaves that they have been sitting on (6). After some time, people would start gathering in some sport fields within the park. The fields include Tennis Court, baseball field among other fields. Adults as well as children would then change into their games kits. Afterwards, they begin playing various matches against one another in the sunny weather (Friends 113). There are several games that are played in Boston Common. The games include, holding kites and baseballs, rackets and tennis balls among many others. The games are played by people of different ages. Both adults and children cheer the games (Friends 28). In fact, you would witness winning baseball teams screaming with most of parents, busy cheering out for their children that are participating in games. At this particular time, almost everyone present in the scene wears a smile on his or her face (Friends 30). The winning teams in the games extend the celebration even to their animals. They would run around the park with their animals especially the dogs. The dogs would back as if they were aware of what is going on, as if they also participated in the games. According to Friends, the celebration results in more littering of the park with the leaves scattered even more. It is a real fun in Boston Common during the summer and winter seasons.
